EDVADO HARDWARE
CAN expansion module with RS232, RS485 and USB
DOT CAN reads vehicle or equipment bus data and transmits the processed results to a monitoring device via RS232, RS485 or USB. It extends trackers that do not have direct access to the vehicle bus.
Read supported bus data using a vehicle-specific subprogram; available parameters depend on the vehicle, wiring and firmware.
Serial interfaces connect DOT CAN to monitoring devices; USB provides configuration and diagnostics.
A discrete output can simulate a speed sensor or a frequency-output fuel level sensor, subject to configuration.
Specifications are based on the available manufacturer manuals. Features not described in those documents are not confirmed.
Not specified: absent from sources. Not confirmed: catalog claim without a technical document. Not supported: explicitly excluded by the manufacturer.
Use DOT CAN as a link between a tracker and a vehicle bus in satellite vehicle monitoring systems. Select a supported vehicle and its corresponding CAN subprogram before installation.
Check CAN Compatibility for the specific vehicle and program. Support for a bus standard does not establish compatibility with every vehicle or guarantee every parameter. Request the appropriate wiring diagram from support@edvado.com.
Check CAN Compatibility →DOT terminals require the appropriate terminal interface mode and vehicle subprogram setting. Third-party terminals require module configuration. Do not assume that all current tracker models support every interface or protocol.
Configure and diagnose via the Windows DOT CAN application and USB driver. The manual also permits subprogram configuration via RS232 and RS485. Obtain current software, drivers and firmware from technical support.
Change the subprogram only with the module disconnected from the CAN bus or with the vehicle ignition switched off.
RS485: the specification table lists DOTCAN, while the setup section also describes selectable CANlog text mode. Verify the mode against the installed firmware. The DOTCAN RS485 protocol specification is available from support.
Generates predefined test data to check the tracker connection only. It does not read the physical CAN1/CAN2 buses or vehicle data.
The manual describes USB bootloader update: establish a connection, select Update firmware, and copy the supplied firmware to the root of the detected removable drive. The module then restarts. Early firmware has a Windows 8–10 update limitation; consult support for a suitable current procedure rather than assuming compatibility with modern Windows versions.
The 16-pin connector table is on page 5 of the manual. Pins 5–6 are described as CAN 2 but repeat CAN1 labels; IN1–IN3 are labelled universal I/O while the specification table lists the input/output totals separately. Confirm the wiring diagram with support before connecting; do not infer additional channels from these labels.
